Unseen is a joint project between the Australian Tibet Council and Reporters Sans Frontiers and is designed to highlight Chinese censorship of foreign and domestic media in Tibet as well as the human rights violations being perpetrated there. It is essentially a press photography exhibition without any photographs. Instead, members of Reporters Sans Frontiers are asked to describe things they have seen in Tibet as if they were describing a photograph. These descriptions or captions are then placed next to large blank canvases. The exhibition provides viewers with short easily digested insights into the situation in Tibet whilst powerfully reminding people of the lack of transparency and accountability the chinese censorship perpetuates.
